Diet: Resume regular diet when appetite returns. If biopsy done under general anesthesia you may be a bit nauseated, in which case you should stay on clear liquids until you feel better.
Activity: Activity should be as tolerated. You may drive.
Dressing/Wound Care: Leave dressing alone and keep it dry for 2 days, at which time you may shower. After showering, remove the dressing and put on a fresh one. Leave the white steri-strips in place.
Do not be alarmed if there is some swelling or if the area is black and blue. This is not uncommon, and will resolve on its own.
Pain Medication: Most biopsies are not that uncomfortable. Advil or Tylenol should be strong enough. However, you may be given a prescription for stronger medication if needed.
Post-op Appointment: Make an appointment in the office for 1 week post-op. I shall try to call you in 2 days with the pathology report. If you don't hear from me by then, you can call for the results.
Call: If the wound looks red, or is bleeding, or if your temperature is over 101 degrees, call the office and you will be seen.
